In May of 2007, the first Gospel Coalition conference was hosted on the campus of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. The first day of the conference included only the founding pastors, and it was committed to planning, the vetting of the documents, and the approval of next steps. During the final two days, a conference was hosted for the entire church staff members and others. This was the first self-conscious and public move following from the Statement of Faith and and Theological Vision, and was intended as an experimental or prototype conference, preparing the way for bigger conferences to follow. The purpose of this conference was “training and mentoring of young pastors.”
